  1. John, this is a wonderful satirical experiment: writing in the form of a form. I loved your collisions of language-games (medical, survey, unanswerable questions, leading questions, and the language of polls. I particularly liked your closure-- intentionally left blank.

  2. I also find "instructional continuity" very difficult and don't like being away from our seminar room and the vibrancy of the FTF meeting. I'm doing my best, but this can't possibly substitute for a class.

    1. Professor Forche,
I'm afraid I got a bit bogged down in the writing here, and put instructional continuity up there as an unfair jab at the administration in a fit of passion! My apologies if it came off as rude... I'm actually liking the assignment for what it's worth - being able to read everyone's work as it is published is really cool.

  3. I think it could be really fun to look at how one might actually go about answering these questions, or to place this form in the context of a larger poem in which a person actually sits down to fill out a form and this is what they get. It could be interesting to see a reaction to or interaction with this satirical medical form. I think this is fantastic by the way.

    1. Thanks Will, I actually hadn't thought about crafting a prepared response to any of the questions, but there's definitely potential there to establish characters, images, etc. Thanks for that note - I'll definitely run with it.

  4. Hi John, I read your proposal before reading this poem and all I can say is WOW! This project has so much potential and I love how you play with the visual materiality of the page (I'm a big believer in occupying as much of the page as possible) and your subversion of psychiatric forms and drug applications. I am wondering if you're going to draw upon other authors' works and intertextually weave it throughout your "Assignments"?

  5. I liked the balance between humor and darkness in the work and I now I think I have a better idea of what you described in your project proposal. On Question 6, I was confused but it was a good kind of confusion. I also thought weighted average cost of social capital (WACsC) was clever.
